I have a confession. I have never actually read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have never owned a copy. I know. I am hanging my head in shame. So, when my sister requested this very hungry caterpillar cocoon set for her last child, I had to look up all the pictures of this glorious insect. I discovered that in order to stay true to the colors, I would have to change colors throughout, to get all the various shades of green….oooor would I?

Nope! I like things as simple and easy as possible, and this pattern couldn’t be any easier! I found two Premier Yarn Sweet Rolls that each have different shades of green throughout. When you crochet, holding them together, the colors may vary from how mine turned out, but you will get the desired effect of that wiggly, very hungry caterpillar cocoon!
