This bandana hat and pixie dust necklace have been ready to publish since spring! I just felt they were more suited for fall, especially the pirate hat. It would be great for Halloween!  Can you believe it’s September already? Fall is just around the corner, and this is not only a cute dress up hat, but something to keep the head warm on chilly nights! I know my littlest ones are always more likely to keep a dress up hat on their heads than just any old hat!

My little girl loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates! For her second birthday I made her an Izzy doll, but the birthday wouldn’t have been complete without having her own matching bandanna hat and pixie dust necklace!

Pixie Dust Necklace

use G hook
With Daffodil, begin with magic ring. Work in continuous rnds; no joining.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring; 6 sts
Rnd 2: inc in each st around; 12 sts
Rnd 3: (inc, sc in next st) 6x; 18 sts
Rnd 4: (inc, sc in next 2 sts) 6x; 24 sts
Rnds 5-8: sc in each st around; 24 sts
Rnd 9: (invsc2tog, sc in next 2 sts) 6x; 18 sts
Rnd 10: sc in each st around; 18 sts
Rnd 11: (invsc2tog, ch 1, sk next st) 6x, join into first st; 6 sts, 6 ch 1 spaces
Rnd 12: [sl st into next ch 1 space, ch 1, (hdc, dc, hdc) all in same ch 1 space as sl st] 6x, join with sl st in the same ch 1 space; fasten off and weave in ends.
Chain
With Chocolate, ch (toddler)120, (young child)150, (child)175
Those chain counts are estimates for those sizes, but they are completely adjustable. Just measure the appropriate length needed to go around the neck, and extra to tie in a bow. I chained 120, approximately 25 inches long, and it fits my 2 year old perfectly.
Before you weave in the ends of your ch, use your tapestry needle to weave the ch through the ch spaces on the pixie dust pouch.
